AURA Fest Presents:

Gillian Carter, The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir,
Gentricide, Pink Peaugot
at The Sentient Bean

"Trying to wedge Gillian Carter into a typical musical niche just isn’t worth the time that could be spent listening to their music. The obvious elements audible in the band’s songs are hardcore, screamo, and noise, carried by endless waves of crashing drums, aching riffs, and distorted shrieks. But then a passage of black-metal tremolo picking or lonesome harmonica will break through the track, both sending the listener for a loop and sounding perfectly at home in the middle of that song. The band are eclectic to be sure, but possess a unity of sound that ties everything together." - Chris Krovatin, Kerrang

Hailing from the humble heavy music scene of Savannah, GA, The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir set out with a DIY ethos and mentality, and an unrelenting drive. While being one of the many bands to spend the Covid-19 pandemic first phase quarantine to focus, write, and polish their skills, they have their eyes set on standing out and staying true to the values they have. Carrying acceptance, social recourse, equality, and radical empathy as their guiding lights, they want to show that heavy and outsider music is for everyone and they will use their platform to spread awareness however they can. Choosing to work only with friends and similarly aligned figures ensures that all of their core beliefs are infused into every effort they put forward.

Musically, they channel a blend of sounds that channel 90s screamo, mathcore, and post-hardcore that turns a flair for the nostalgic on its head. Garnering comparisons to The Dillinger Escape Plan, Daughters, and The Jesus Lizard, and sharing the stage with heavyweights such as Evergreen Terrace, Gillian Carter, Yautja, and many more, they are on their way to becoming an underground powerhouse.
